Rube Goldberg Engineering Lab is a hands-on STEM enrichment class where students become inventors, engineers, and creative problem-solvers. Inspired by Rube Goldberg machines, students will design and build multi-step chain-reaction contraptions using everyday materials to complete simple tasks in imaginative and complex ways.

Throughout the session, students will:

Explore engineering and physics concepts such as force, motion, gravity, cause-and-effect, and simple machines

Work collaboratively to brainstorm, test, revise, and improve their designs

Strengthen critical thinking, creativity, and perseverance through real-world problem solving

Practice communication and teamwork while building and testing their machines

Each class emphasizes experimentation, iteration, and joyful learning—there is no single “right” answer. Students are encouraged to take risks, learn from mistakes, and celebrate creative solutions.

Instructor-led, hands-on, and highly engaging, this class is designed for all experience levels and is especially exciting for curious builders and makers.
